Overview

An electric-vehicle charging hub for a commercial fleet, built around fast-charging bays fed from an upgraded supply and load-managed so the site never exceeds its available grid capacity.

The brief

Charging a fleet at once would have overloaded the existing connection, so the design had to combine a supply upgrade with active load management rather than simply adding chargers.

What we did

Supply upgrade from the transformer station
Trenching, ducting and cable routing
Distribution boards and protection
Fast chargers with dynamic load management
Integration with billing and monitoring

How we did it

01

Capacity assessment

We measured the available supply and planned an upgrade plus load management to cover simultaneous charging.

02

Civils & cabling

Trenching, ducting and cable runs were installed from the upgraded supply to each bay.

03

Chargers

Fast chargers were mounted, connected and configured for dynamic load sharing across the bays.

04

Integration & commissioning

Chargers were linked to the operator's billing and monitoring system, then tested under load.

Outcome

The depot can charge multiple vehicles at once without breaching its connection limit, with usage and billing visible through the operator's platform.
